Online Study Group

The New York Feldenkrais Teacher Training is the pleased to announce that we are the first training with a dedicated Online Study Group website for the exclusive use of trainees. This service is offered as part of tuition; there is additional no cost for NYFTT trainees using the site. The study group provides a means for trainees to access recorded & written materials, track homework assignments, communicate with each other (and the faculty) about the theory and practice of the method and to support one another. The study group includes:

  • Homework assignments: Homework assignments are posted to this section of the site. Trainees can discuss the assignment and report on their experience completing it. These responses are collected in a community journal, known as a newsgroup that provides a threaded, historical conversation on for each homework topic. (Each time a new assignment is posted, the community journal for the previous assignment is stored as an archive.)
  • Recorded materials: NYFTT class sessions - ATM lessons, talks, in class exercises and discussions - are recorded. Trainees can access detailed index of each training day and download whatever materials they are interested in (in MP3 format via any high-speed internet connection). This means that, unlike in most training programs, trainees don''t need to spend hundreds of extra dollars a year buying supplemental CDs or audiotapes.
  • Written materials: Selected assigned articles, photos and other resources will be posted here so that trainees can download them.
  • Chat room: Trainees can log on here to ask questions, exchange stories, and have discussions in real time. Faculty members will be available to discuss assignment at scheduled times, which will be announced on the site ahead of time.
