Advanced Training
Drawing on his years of experience in private practice and training practitioners, Lawrence Wm. Goldfarb, Ph.D., Certified Feldenkrais® Trainer created advanced training courses to address the needs and interests of those Feldenkrais teachers who want to develop their skills and understanding after graduating from a training.
Using cooperative learning approaches, where practitioners learn with and from each other, Larry creates a safe and fun environment for learning. He is known for presenting the Method in an explicit, systemic framework, and for balancing kinesthetic learning with cognitive understanding.
To facilitate participants’ learning, each course addresses one specific aspect of the Method within a small group setting over an extended period of time:
- IDEAS IN ACTION is a weekend FI coaching group that meets five times each academic year.
- RECLAIMING ROLLERS is taught in two five-day segments that teaches ATM & FI lesson strategies and structures using foam cylinders in lying, sitting and standing.
- PUSHING & PULLING, a short (four-day) course about the movement patterns that underlie these actions, focuses on self-use as the laboratory for learning.
- WORKSHOPS THAT WORK consists of three five-day segments that teach how to plan, promote, and present successful classes and workshops. Built around a workshop for the general public, the four or five-day course
- ANATOMY OF A WORKSHOP reveals the design of a successful workshop.
Mentoring Mentors
In 1999, Larry began Mentoring Mentors, the first mentor training program in the Feldenkrais community. Feldenkrais Practitioners with five or more years experience study classic lesson compositions to develop an understanding of the strategies that underlie FI and learn the tenets of teaching it to others.
The Associate's Program
He has also developed The Associates Program, an annual re course exclusively for practitioners who have already worked with him in fifteen or more days of advanced training or by graduating from a training program he directed.
